I am guessing that an app that has Savings enabled uses Opera's VPN servers, while an app that has Savings disabled does not use Opera's VPN servers.

Thankyou teddycat! Downgraded Instagram as you say and data saving using the app is working again.

The most difference between the 10.20 and latest version is the mask options in selfies, totally irrelevant for me.

As Teddycat says, "use Instagram 10.20.0 for working data saving"

Now Max is telling me that Opera for a Android used data and no data was saved. I've been doing similar sort of browsing now compared to when I first posted, where Max said it saved data on Opera for Android.

The functionality seems inconsistent and I'm becoming skeptical about the information that Max is reporting back to me. Can anyone clarify how the Opera data saving products function when used together?

You uninstall it like you do with any other app: go to settings > apps > select Opera Max and then click on 'uninstall'.

I received this message from Opera.
I guess we are stuck with it, or else turn it off. Perhaps a less obnoxious notification widget would be nice.

"The notification you asked is required by Android OS for all VPN apps, including Opera Max. Therefore, when you turn it off, you won't see any notification."
